What SusHi Tech Tokyo taught us about entering Japan
View original post on LinkedInSusHi Tech Tokyo was an incredible experience — meeting investors, founders, and ecosystem leaders, and seeing first-hand how open Japan is becoming to international startups and cross-border collaboration.
Relationships first
The clearest lesson was cultural. In Japan, relationships matter and trust matters. Business values consistency, long-term thinking, and meaningful connections — and loyalty tends to follow once trust is established, not before.
Advice for founders eyeing Japan
Don't rush market entry. Invest the time to understand the culture and build genuine relationships before expecting business outcomes. The patience is the strategy. Grateful for the conversations and connections made — this is just the beginning.
